Choosing a hosting provider is a crucial decision that can make or break your online endeavors. The strength and reliability of your foundation are paramount. Unfortunately, my experience with WaveCom AS demonstrated how a weak foundation can lead to a series of complications.The initial issue arose from a router connection mismatch. Our UDM Pro only supports RJ45 and SFP+ connections, a detail I conveyed to WaveCom AS. Despite this, they insisted on using an unsupported 1G Cisco SFP module. The subsequent daily VPN disruptions and periodic total disconnections frustrated our developers to no end.WaveCom AS's response was to blame our hardware, arguing that it wasn't compatible with the 1G Cisco modules like a MikroTik router would be. This seemed an unusual stance since I had already informed them about our specific router requirements. We were forced to push for a switch to an RJ45 connection, which immediately resolved all connection issues.Then we faced a mysterious problem with our two servers randomly restarting. The exact cause was never pinpointed, but the servers worked flawlessly in our office without any reboots, pointing to the issue being on WaveCom AS's end. This further eroded our confidence in their technical competence. Fed up, we moved our servers back to our office, where they resumed working flawlessly. Four days of smooth operation confirmed that the fault lay with WaveCom AS and not our equipment.In my 22-year career in IT, working with numerous hosting providers in Ukraine and Germany, I've never faced such a stubborn and misguided approach. WaveCom AS's unwillingness to recognize the clear specifications of our hardware and their haste to lay blame elsewhere was an unprecedented experience for me.I cannot, in all honesty, recommend WaveCom AS. If you're seeking a hosting provider, take this experience as a cautionary tale. Look for a provider who not only understands the unique needs and specifications of your hardware but also works with you to find solutions rather than hastily shifting blame.Your projects deserve a firm and competent foundation. WaveCom AS, sadly, did not provide that for us, and I encourage you to carefully consider your options before entrusting them with your critical hosting needs.
