The Estonian Knighthood House was one of the prettiest buildings on Toompea Hill. Unfortunately now it looks like it is abandoned. It I is shame.The Neo-Renaissance building was built in 1848 to serve as the headquarters of the knighthood, a major component of the local aristocracy.It was home to the Foreign Ministry during the first independent republic of Estonia, which lasted from 1920 to 1940 and during Soviet times the building housed the Estonian National Library.

Nice building

Sadly this building is shut up and very dilapidated, though I suspect that the interior is still maintained. The once-powerful Baltic Barons were virtually wiped out by two World Wars and Soviet occupation. Those who survive are a diaspora who can have little interest in meeting in Tallinn.
